The organization prioritizes mainly on improving lives by offering financial support to fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, those who are in dire need and are ambitious to start a business that will sustain them by the Will of Allah. Contributions and donations are collected each month and a project is done for any needy person despite the culture, religion or ethnicity.
History of the organization:
20 bob movement was founded in February the year 2019. It is a Community Based Organisation in Mombasa County focusing on helping the youth and poor by starting a small business for them to sustain themselves. The organisation was named 20 Bob Movement because of the culture of saving ksh 20 daily for the needy and donating ksh 600 (or more) to the organisation as a monthly contribution/donation. Change starts small that is why we opted for as little as ksh 20 shilling to remind people you don’t need to donate much to make a difference in someone’s life. We aspire to carry out motivational forums and entrepreneurship summits as part of our activities. Our projects are divided into two General Projects & Sustainability projects. Projects done respectively so far are:
- Old age Home visit (General project)
- Buying a cart for a water vendor (Sustainability project)
- Adding stock for a cloth seller in Markiti area (Sustainability project)
- Hospital visit paying minor bills for 3 patients. (General project)
- Mosque building in mdengerekeni area ( General project)
What led to the formation of this organisation is the sole reason of unemployment cases and people being demotivated to start their own businesses to sustain themselves despite many resources existing in our country, it was thought that finances may be the reason hence a dire need for a community organisation to arise and provide funds to the skilled ones to start their businesses.
